The Changing Social Media Landscape: How to Keep Consumers Engaged in 2024
As social media evolves, consumers’ appetite for engaging content only grows. At the end of 2023, 38% of users predicted they would increase their use of social platforms in 2024—and they were right. Despite new networks, AI-generated content, and hyper-personalized algorithms, people interact more with brands than ever.
Interestingly, when asked which platforms brands should avoid, consumers said “none.” Each network offers unique opportunities to connect with different audiences. However, with increased content production pressures, brands face the challenge of delivering high-quality content. In fact, 91% of users say a brand’s social content production value impacts their engagement, with repetitive and unoriginal content being a significant reason for unfollowing. This should serve as a cautionary note for brands to be attentive to their content strategy.
So, how do brands stand out? It’s not about posting more—it’s about creating the right content for each platform. By focusing on entertaining and meeting audiences’ specific needs on each channel, brands can reassure themselves that quality over quantity matters more than ever. This approach can maximize engagement and build stronger connections.
